5 Ways to Help Your Child Check AI Answers at Home

Children now meet AI everywhere: in search engines, learning apps and even games. The catch is that AI can answer very convincingly even when it is wrong. The good news: the habit of checking can be trained early.
1. Make "How do you know?" a habit
Whenever your child mentions a fact from AI, ask about the source with curiosity, not judgement.
2. Find two other sources

Compare the AI answer with a school textbook and an official website. If all three agree, it is more likely to be right.
3. Be wary of claims that sound too magical
Claims like "an animal that swims in lava" are a signal to stop and check.
4. Write your own guess first
Before asking AI, have your child write down their guess. This keeps them thinking instead of just copying.
5. Celebrate catching AI out
Turn finding an AI mistake into a small win. Kids learn that checking is cool.
